I started the day with yogurt instead of bacon, because I knew there'd be a big lunch. 3g carbs, 12g protein.
Lunch began with this appetizer, of freshly-made mozzarella with slices of eggplant and zucchini. Delicious! I love this restaurant. About 2g carbs, 25g protein.
And then I had this amazing dish of braised beef short ribs. Tender and flavorful beef -- great stuff. It was served with green veggies -- sauteed spinach, asparagus, and rapini (which is a relative of broccoli). I don't know if you can get the scale from the photo, but these were big chunks of beef; I bet about 4oz each before cooking, so 12oz of beef in this lunch serving (portion control, schmortion control!). Normally I count meats as 6g/oz pre-cooked weight, but this was a really fatty meat (did I mention SO GOOD?), so I'm going to count 60g protein from this. And probably 5g carbs from the greens. I didn't finish this at lunch, but I had the rest of it for dinner.
And we'll skip right to my evening snack, since dinner was covered by the lunch picture. I had 2 oz of Appenzeller cheese -- nice, very firm and sort of nutty, I'll be buying this again. It's on the dry side, so a little higher calories per ounce since there's less moisture, and the proportion of fat is a little lower than in most cheeses, so this has 7g/oz protein, where 6g/oz is more typical. In this portion, no carbs and 14g protein.
Totals for the day were 10g carbs, and 111g protein.
