Still no camera, and still not quite on track from the carb binge yesterday.
I actually ate marzipan for breakfast. Pathetic. About 10g carbs, 2g protein.
And then a friend called, and I ended up going out for brunch. I was moderate here -- had an omelet with mushrooms, green onions, and cheese, ham, bacon, sausage, brisket, a broccoli frittata, and then one small cream cheese blintz with strawberry sauce and two tiny bite-sized desserts. About 25g carbs, which is high for a single meal but wouldn't have been out of line if I'd been in good shape for the weekend otherwise. About 70g protein.
After that, I managed to suck it up and stay out of the carbs. I did have some more meatloaf, about half as big as the prior pieces, and the last 2 apple muffins. About 8g carbs, 48g protein.
Totals for the day are 43g carbs (but I'm still giving this post a carb tag, because I was basically bingeing for half of it), and 120g protein.

Still without a camera.
For breakfast I had the most fabulous omelet -- ground beef, onions, tomato, cheddar, sour cream, salsa -- and cottage cheese and tomato slices on the side. If you're ever in Dallas, Cindi's New York Deli is highly recommended. About 6g carbs, 32g protein.
For lunch I stopped close to home at a Cracker Barrel, and got the lemon pepper trout, with green beans and a salad, from their low-carb menu. About 4g carbs, 40g protein.
And then... I don't know what happened. I had a couple of Lindor truffles, about 10g carbs, and then couldn't stop. I think it was probably a PMS attack -- occasionally that makes me go all ALL YOUR CARBS ARE BELONG TO ME, and starting with the chocolate mid-afternoon was probably an error. In any case, I ate 4 of the truffles and 4 pieces of marzipan before I was through, for a total of about 40g carbs, and maybe 8g protein.
I also had a piece of low-carb meatloaf, with a little low-carb ketchup on it. About 4g carbs, 70g protein.
Totals for the day were 54g carbs, 150g protein. Completely off the rails today.

Oh, yum. For "breakfast" today, I had an oral glucose tolerance test -- 75g carbs, no protein. For what it's worth, the fruit punch flavor is better than the orange or the cola.
Fortunately, then I got to get right back on the low-carb plan; I was a little afraid that that big carb hit might give me carb cravings, but it didn't. Naked tenders and a salad, no croutons, from Buffalo Wild Wings have about 4g carbs, 30g protein.
This is the first low-carb recipe I've made from scratch -- meatloaf, made with almond meal instead of breadcrumbs. It was generally satisfactory, and definitely tasty, but it needs some tweaking before I'll be ready to post it. I had broccoli with it, so the whole meal has about 9g carbs, 75g protein.
I had the last of my chocolate muffins, for 2g carbs, 5g protein.
And then I made some apple cinnamon ones! Same recipe, but with 1/2 cup of applesauce and 2tsp cinnamon, no other sweetener. They're not perfect -- that amount of sweetening and flavoring tasted fine when I tasted the batter before folding it into the egg whites, but it turned out a little bland in the finished product. Not bad, but unlike the chocolate ones which were decadent, these taste like they might be good for you. About 2g carbs, 5g protein.
Totals for the day were 92g carbs (but only 17g aside from the OGTT), and 113g protein.

Bacon for breakfast; no carbs, 10g protein.
Lunch at Luby's -- grilled tilapia with lemon dill butter (they were out of roast beef! I was nonplussed), and two helpings of cabbage. About 6g carbs, 35g protein.
This was kind of an error, apparently. This is Luby's coconut cream pie, made with Splenda. I'm still trying to get specific nutritional info on it. I have a friend who's Type I diabetic, and he says he can eat this and only needs to inject 2 units of insulin to cover it; I'm not sure how that's possible, as I didn't eat the crust (he eats the bottom crust but not the back part) and this kicked my blood glucose up to 142mg/dL at one hour, which is the highest I've seen it since the day I ate birthday cake two months ago (although at least it was back down to 85 mg/dL at two hours). I won't be eating this again; that's more of a hit than I'm willing to take. I may come back and revise this when I get specific information, but I'm going to estimate this as 30g carbs -- less than the birthday cake, which was 50, because even though I went up as high, I didn't stay up nearly as long due to not having much fat with it. And let's say 6g protein.
Dinner was pizza, toppings only. About 8g carbs from the veggies, 50g protein.
Totals for the day are about 44g carbs, 101g protein. Even though I didn't blow through the overall carb limit, today gets a CARBFEST tag because I sure did blow it for that one meal; I felt it, too, in bloating and a little hop in water weight, and my fasting blood glucose was unusually high this morning also.

One of my common breakfasts -- bacon strips. No carbs, 10g protein.
More breakfast food for lunch today -- I had migas at IHOP again, this time with chorizo mixed in, and with a side of fruit instead of broccoli. I didn't eat the grapes. About 13g of carbs, and about 40g of protein.
For supper I had more "low carb pizza" (toppings, no crust). These pieces were a little smaller than the ones I had the other day, and with more meat and fewer veggies, so I'm going to say about 6g carbs and 45g protein.
And then I blew my eating plan off altogether, and had a piece of cake. Not a miniature sliver like I had the other day either, but a regular piece. I did at least weigh it, not guess -- it was 90g, which means it has about 50g of carbs all by itself. I blew my blood sugar up proper, with this -- it was 147 at one hour, and is still 133 at two. At least it does have the utility of clamping an absolute upper limit on what I can have. I've got six months till the next kid has a birthday -- hopefully this'll be the last time I really blow it up between now and then.
Carb totals are pretty dreadful today -- 69g, way over my 50g limit (predictable, since the cake was 50 all by itself). Protein is 95g, which is okay.

Today I'm back at work, and breakfast was quickly grabbed on the run -- I had a dozen bite-size pieces of summer sausage. No carbs at all in this, and about 10g protein.
This is one of my favorite meals! I had lunch at Chili's, and had their Southwestern Cedar Plank Tilapia -- the fish has fabulous flavor, and it's served with a really delicious chimichurri sauce and pico de gallo. I ditched the rice that comes with it, and instead had broccoli and a mix of sauteed mushrooms, peppers, and onions. Delish! About 16g carbs, and around 40g protein.
Oh no! I completely forgot to take a picture of my dinner until I'd already eaten it. It was a french-dip sandwich, roast beef with carmelized onions and swiss cheese, which I took off the bread and ate with knife and fork instead, and a big bowl of steamed veggies. About 10g carbs, and around 40g protein.
This is SO not a low-carb food, but it was my daughter's birthday, so of course I had cake (I'm going to have more Saturday at her big party, too). It's a very limited portion, about 1.5 oz or 45g total weight -- still about 25g carbs, and no protein to speak of. My blood glucose an hour after eating this was 120, so this is a portion size I can get away with, if it's chasing a low-carb high-protein meal. Experience has shown me that I can't handle this kind of hit without a blood sugar spike if the prior meal is also relatively high in carbs.
That little piece of cake wasn't very filling and it gave me the sugar munchies, so I rounded out my day with about 2 oz of medium cheddar. No carbs in this, and 14g of protein.
Totals for the day were 51g carbs, so still just right at my usual limit despite the indulgence in cake, and 104g protein.
