January 9, 2009

Breakfast today was straight protein and fat, in the form of bacon. Mmmm -- the abundance of bacon may be the best part of eating this way. No carbs, 10g of protein.

Pretty much the opposite of breakfast -- chocolate-covered cherry. My mom has bought me a box of Queen Anne Cherry Cordials for Christmas as long as I can remember, and this year was no exception. However, this year, instead of scarfing down the whole box in one or two sittings (shameful, but true), I had just this one, and put the rest out on the snack table at work for someone-not-me to eat. Good thing, too -- these are 15 carbs a pop. No protein.

Lunch was a salad with grilled chicken -- blue cheese dressing on the side. Not because I was trying to eat "light", but because I ate at a restaurant where practically every other choice was on bread, breaded and fried, or both. About 4g carbs, between the greens and the little bit the dressing has, and around 35g of protein.

My mom took us out for dinner to celebrate my daughter's birthday, since she couldn't make it on Tuesday and didn't want to come to the big party Saturday (I can't blame her; it'll be a madhouse). Prime rib (the smallest size) with horseradish, green beans, and some marvelous broccoli. Only 7g carbs, but a whopping 65g of protein. I think I've already said, haven't I, that restaurants serve entrees in absurd portions?

Only 26g of carbs today, and 110 grams of protein.
